CIPFA design and manufacturing contest
Theme: Fashion accessories (glasses, necklaces, hats, scarfs, hair pins, etc.)
You have an original idea for a 3D printed hat? Want to use recycled materials to make a bow tie? Here is your chance to showcase your expertise and let go your creativity!
The Innovation catalyst in advanced manufacturing processes (CIPFA) is launching the first edition of its design and manufacturing contest. This contest is meant to be both fun and informative. This year, the theme we have chosen is Fashion accessories. You can use any material or manufacturing process. Please note that we are not asking only for a drawing or description, we want to see your objects in real life! The accessories will be judged at the COM/LightMat 2025 conference in July (Montréal), but you can participate even if you do not attend the conference. Results will be announced on July 9, 2025.
Students prizes:
- 1st prize: 1000$
- 2nd prize: 600$
- 3rd prize: 400$
Evaluation criteria:
Sustainable creativity category (for students):
- Use of recycled materials
- Technical skills
- Originality of the design
Innovation category (open to all):
- Sustainability (materials and processes)
- Innovations in the manufaturing process
- Originality of the design
How to participate:

- Send your accessory to CIPFA for delivery no later than July 1st or send a picture of your accessory on July 1st and bring your accessory to the COM/LightMat conference on July 7th, 2025. Accessories will be sent back after the conference (or you can leave with it). We will also ask you for a short description of your accessory no later than July 1st (150 words maximum).
